Eine unserer Spezialsammlungen sind die Gesneriaceae‘n. Bei dieser zur Ordnung der Lippenblütlerartigen (Lamiales) gehörigen Pflanzenfamilie mit ihren je nach Quelle etwa 3200 bis 3870 Arten handelt es sich überwiegend um in den Tropen verbreitete Species.

Worldwide, there are about 850 – 900 different salvia species. Many of them grow in arid habitats. This corresponds with one of the focal points of our collections, the succulents. Since the mid-90s we have started to build a salvia collection.
